Taylor Keen was born and raised in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, the son of the late Ralph F. Keen, former Chief Justice of the now Supreme Court of the Cherokee Nation, and Octa Keen, a lifelong devoted health servant. Like many At Large citizens, Taylor has spent almost 20 years living as a Cherokee citizen At Large. Equally respectful of traditional values and education, Taylor received his bachelors from Dartmouth College, and a MBA/MPA from Harvard University as a Fellow with the Harvard Project on American Indian Economic Development, presently publishing on topics of Tribal Sovereignty and Economic Development.

Bringing a balanced approach, Taylor has served his Cherokee people as a Vice President of Cherokee Nation Enterprises, as well as a volunteer instructor in the Cherokee Nation History Course. In a historic event, Taylor Keen was elected by his peers on the Council to serve as the first Cherokee Councilor At Large. In 2007, Taylor was elected to serve as President of the Board of Directors for the American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Oklahoma. Taylor is active in both the ceremonial worlds of Oklahoma tribes and in the Christian community.
